Stone Cutter

If she could only know that part of me i cannot share
The part i dare not give, expose, the wound i cannot bare
T’is that i cannot render, out of fear cannot impart
For there are far to many scars and boo-boos on my heart…

If i could only tell her that i’ve yet to voice or show
Perhaps she’d understand the part of me she doesn’t know
i long for that romantic i am yet to understand
Who lurks behind the threshold of a door forever banned….

If she could only realize a stone is often hewned
And jagged edges fade with time, erode the open wound
The chiseled scars, oft-rendered, by the carver of his past
Is merely a reflection of their yet unfinished task….

Diamond Cutter

If he could only know and realize that she
Understands that part of him he thinks she cannot see
She knows the pain and blinding fear of sharing of the heart
Only when he overcomes the scars can he impart

The romance that he longs to show she wishes to regain
He used to show her what she'd win if she stayed in the game
Romantics aren't meant to be forever behind a door
They need to show the love they've shown a thousand times before

A stone left imbedded in the soil, never moved
Cannot reveal the diamond and its value never proved
Diamond cutter of the present would sit and wonder why
How can he ever love again if he's afraid to try
